Guests included:
Many many enthusiastic visitors to the booth at the festival. Hopefully a few will join us
for the October 11th meeting. I know quite a few of the new business cards were handed out.
Ikes Corner:
Thank you to everyone who worked in the South Coast Woodturners booth at the
Cranberry Festival this past month. Because of your efforts we had a very successful
booth. A number of the club members sold items they had turned. The club items sold
well. A great number of tops were turned and sold. Rick and Joanie Fox deserve a
special thanks for coordinating club workers, organizing the setup, arranging the
products, and spending their weekend at the Festival. A number of other club members
put in lots of time and worked hard at the festival. Thank you to all who participated in
the festival.
Your board met recently to begin planning for next year. I will cover the highlights at the
October board meeting. The board is requesting your input. What would you like for
programs? Is there something that you would suggest for a club improvement?
With input from members and involvement of everyone we can make this a great
experience for everyone interested in woodturning.   Ike
Jim’s Program Notes:
October 2014 Program
The October 11th program should have something for just about everybody. This is a
show and tell expanded program. Items that will be shown are a homemade longworth
and squeeze chucks, vacuum and colejaw chucks, a segment cutting sled and a glue up
aid for segmenting, a vari grind 3 sharpening jig and a CBN sharpening wheel. We will
also show a safety block cutting sawhorse for those of you who cut up logs to turning
wood. If anyone has something to show besides what is listed please contact me or just
bring it to the meeting.

Library:
The new library listing is up on the SCWT web site with many thanks to Shelly Knapp
our web master. USE IT!!
If any of our members have DVD’s or books they would like to share with the rest of the
group we would be more than happy to accept them. Does anyone have suggestions
for items we should buy, just let me know.
Also a reminder that one of the many benefits of being a member of SCWT is that we
get a 15% discount on turning related items at our local Oregon Tool and Supply. Just
show your membership card. The KLINSPOR Woodworker Supply has SCWT on its list
for discounts if want to shop on line. Any questions on this see me at the October
meeting.

Store:
We now have hats. $15, they are green bill with Tan top. Items are still available, priced
better than most other options.
Are there any ideas as to what we could stock that would sell??
Website:
USE IT, USE IT, USE IT!! If you have photos you would like loaded to it, just email the
images to Shelley Knapp with a description of the image. If you would like your own
area to show off your work, email Shelley a biography of yourself and your turnings.
Cranberry Festival:
Thanks to Rick and Joanie Fox for coordinating the Festival again. Also thanks to those
that helped setup, sell, turn tops and tear down!! This was our one big money maker for the year. We sold every single top that was made!! See the treasure notes on how
much the club made.
